Judy Min Joo Kwak (BAppSc (SpPath)),MSPA, CPSP

Judy is a dedicated and passionate Speech Pathologist who has been empowering children and adults to achieve their communication goals for nearly a decade. Since completing her Bachelor of Applied Science (Speech Pathology) at the University of Sydney in 2015, she has worked in wide variety of settings including private practice, mainstream primary and high schools, schools for specific purposes, child care centres and preschools.

She is a Certified Practising member of Speech Pathology Australia and is committed to continuous professional development. She also enjoys sharing her knowledge, and has worked as a clinical educator at universities, guiding and mentoring speech pathology students.

As a strong believer of a collaborative approach, Judy enjoys working closely with families, caregivers, teachers and other health professionals to provide holistic care for her clients. She genuinely believes that a positive therapeutic relationship is essential to create a safe and nurturing environment where speech therapy can be most effective.

She is highly skilled in conducting comprehensive and individualised assessments to ensure that therapy is effective and enjoyable. Fluent in Korean and English, she embraces diversity and is passionate about supporting families from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

Judy has extensive experience working with children with a wide array of communication challenges, including speech sound disorders (articulation, phonology, motor speech), developmental language disorders/language delays, literacy, and fluency disorders such as stuttering. She also supports children, teens, and adults with social communication with a neurodiverse affirming approach. Additionally, she supports adults with neurogenic communication disorders resulting from stroke, dementia, traumatic brain injury (TBI), and Parkinson’s Disease.

Judy has completed further training and certification in the following:

  • Hanen Programs including ‘It takes Two to Talk’ and ‘More Than Words’ which are parent coaching programs for autistic children and children with language delays.
  • Sounds Write Literacy Program
  • SPEAK OUT! Therapy for People with Parkinson’s Disease and related neurological disorders
  • Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing (DTTC) for children with Childhood Apraxia of Speech

  • DIR Floortime
  • The Lidcombe Program and Westmead Program for Stuttering

Outside of work, Judy enjoys singing, reading, travelling and hiking.
